In today’s post we discuss the Cannes Film Festival and explain why size does not matter when it comes to building a reliable client base.

Film stars from all corners of the world have flooded the famous small resort town located on the French Riviera for the 68th Cannes International Film Festival. This invite-only event takes place at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès and previews new movies of all genres, including documentaries from around the globe over twelve days. All of the films are competing for the highly sought after Palme d’Or prize. It is not all about competition though. The guests are being treated to the enjoyable Marché du Film, creative exhibitions and lavish after parties. There has been intense media frenzy on the red carpet around celebrities fashion choices and these looks will shape fashion trends for the rest of the year.

For people who have never visited Cannes before it may seem remarkable that this small town has continued to attract some of Hollywood’s biggest names year after year. Major celebrity events normally take place in large cosmopolitan cities such as Los Angeles and London. However, Cannes is unique as it offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and Boulevard de la Croisette, lined with luxurious hotels that provide a waterfront promenade with spectacular views. The haute-couture designer shops attract people from all over the world who are eager to find something unique that will allow them to stand out from the crowd. It is not surprising that the delicious French cuisine in this town is also a huge draw for tourists and celebrities. La Palme d’Or, located inside the celebrity favorite Hotel Martinez, is the only two Michelin starred restaurant in Cannes and is famous for its grilled red mullet and lobster thermidor. Le Moulin des Mougins also has a Michelin star and is famous for its mouth-watering Brittany lobster fricassee. Finally, the town is well known for its thrilling nightlife. Le Baoli, a beachfront Asian-themed nightclub has hosted big names including Jay Z and Bono and is immensely popular with tourists.

If you factor in all of these different elements it is easy to see how this small seaside town has retained its charm. The film festival’s organizers could have chosen any location in the world for this important event, but they chose Cannes as its stunning scenery and elegance provides the perfect complement to the glitz and glamour of the festival. Many people underestimate small towns and small businesses. However, I have witnessed during my years spent representing insurance brokers in business transactions that even the smallest agency can boast an attractive client base. This is the result of hard work and commitment by the staff to tailor their services to each client’s individual needs. They put a huge focus on customer service excellence, which is paramount for every insurance agency as each satisfied customer steers dozens of new ones toward the business. Cannes is clearly unique. Every agency needs to focus on why it is different and better than its competition. Unfortunately, many agencies are similar and provide the same markets and the same level of customer service. If your goal is to be just like your competition, we would suggest that you set highly goals for your agency.
