It’s that time again. Summer 2013 is just about over and like so many others; it went by way too fast. This time of year can be a headache for a lot of parents, as the kids get ready to go back to school we engage in a little “fall” cleanup. They get new clothes and new school supplies, and prepare for the new adventures and opportunities that the new school year provides.
The kids aren’t the only ones who enter a new phase at this time of year. With vacations out of the way and the summer lull behind us, now is the time for insurance agencies to perform their own “fall” cleanup.
Time For A Report Card?
It is important that you regularly monitor your agency’s progress and now is as good a time as any to reassess your goals for the agency, clients and employees. Ask yourself, have I been succeeding in these goals so far? Do I need to change the way we do things? Is it time to change more than that?
It is a good time to reclaim your place in the insurance industry. Many agencies grow tired and sedate over time. Employees, producers, owners and clients get comfortable and let the same procedures and the same patterns roll on longer than they should. Which is fine, until a new agency, or revamped competitor comes on the scene. If you’ve become boring in the eyes of your clients, it will be easy for competitors to turn their heads.
Must Do Better?
Kids all over the country will be seeing this coming school year as a chance to reinvent themselves. This year, they’ll be cool, sporty or popular in the way they weren’t last year. Is it time you considered reinventing your agency? The changes can range from trying new marketing strategies like re-developing your advertising, marketing yourself in a new geographic region or expressing yourself through specific types of coverages to re-decorating your office.
You could attempt the same reinvention within your current staff. Mix up your personnel in professional settings – don’t send the same employees year after year to conventions or workshops. You need to have new blood connecting with other agencies and insurance companies.
As we enter the autumn, you have the opportunity to reinvigorate your agency. Let your clients, potential clients and other agencies take notice of who you are, what you can do, and show that you can make it happen. Every passing day is another opportunity to turn it all around, why not start today?
