In today’s post we discuss the recent passing of American woman Gertrude Weaver and reveal the top five life goals.
The world’s oldest person Gertrude Weaver died on Monday, April 6, 2015 at the age of 116. She died of complications from pneumonia at the Silver Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Camden, Arkansas. Remarkably, it was only five days after she became the oldest living person on Earth following the death of Japanese woman Misao Okawa, who died of heart failure at her nursing home in Osaka, Japan on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Weaver was due to turn 117 on July 4 and had requested that President Obama attend her birthday party. When asked about the secret to her longevity she said it was because she was always kind to everyone and ate her own home-cooked food. She was born in Arkansas and worked as a domestic helper. Her hobbies included manicures and wheelchair dancing. Jeralean Talley, who lives in the Detroit area, now holds the title for the world’s oldest person. She is 115 and credits worshipping God with her longevity on Earth.
While nobody can predict exactly how long they will live, most people do their best to make sure that they will have a long life. They eat healthily, exercise regularly and avoid smoking and drinking heavily. However, it is easy to get caught up in your work life and forget about your personal goals. Celebrity couple Beyonce and Jay Z noticed that they were prioritizing their music careers over their marriage and decided to create a “bucket list” of places to visit and goals they would like to achieve this year. The couple and their daughter Blue Ivy, 3, visited Iceland, Thailand and Cambodia over the Christmas period and they seem much happier in their marriage now. Everyone has a list of personal goals that they would like to achieve in their lifetime. They could be anything from setting up your own business, bungee jumping or climbing Mount Everest. It is clear that everyone holds a different set of expectations for their life, which helps shape the personal desires they wish to accomplish. Nevertheless the top five personal goals are to be happy, successful, to travel, to stop procrastinating and to try new things.
If you are facing retirement and are worrying about how you will cope without your high-powered job then you should consider creating a bucket list of plans. You have already achieved your main goal of setting up a successful insurance agency and now it is time to focus on other important goals. Some people dread retirement as they consider it an ending, while others see it as a new beginning. I spent a great deal of my career in the banking industry. I can assure you that nobody dreaded retirement. It has been an odd transition for me into the insurance brokerage industry where nobody wants to retire.
Your goal could be as simple as Weaver’s commitment to treating everyone with kindness or require more planning like Beyonce and Jay Z’s exotic travel plans. Sukay & Associates has only one simple goal. Our goal is to help you achieve your goals. Our job is interesting because everyone’s goals are unique. We guide you through a process that helps you identify those goals and then we work tirelessly on your behalf to achieve those goals.
